“Six people, but a thousand ways this insane plan could go wrong.”

Title: Six of Crows
Author: Leigh Bardugo
Why you should read this book: I recommend it to everyone who loves adventure, magic and the right amount of craziness!!

I will use Goodreads description because it perfectly summarize the plot of the book and honestly I want to write everything and I’s spoil everyone!
A convict with a thirst for revenge.
A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager.
A runaway with a privileged past.
A spy known as the Wraith.
A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.
A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.
An impossible mission, lots of money to gain, a better future if they succeed.

“Kaz leaned back. “What’s the easiest way to steal a man’s wallet?”
“Knife to the throat?” asked Inej.
“Gun to the back?” said Jesper.
“Poison in his cup?” suggested Nina.
“You’re all horrible,” said Matthias.”

What can I say?? I loved it!! Intriguing, charming, dark, magical, a hint of love. It has really everything, the right doses of all you need to make a great book.
The story has a goal but it doesn’t just reach the goal, it takes you on a rollercoaster of choices, twists, doubts and smiles that make the journey one of the most interesting I’ve ever been in a virtual world in a long time…or never.
The characters, the chapters from their different points of view with their differents reactions, feelings and back stories. Getting to know them better is one of the best parts about this book. You want to hug every single one of them.

“When everyone knows you’re a monster, you needn’t waste time doing every monstrous thing.”

Let me tell you what I thought about the characters one by one with quotes I liked said by the, or about them.

KAZ: splendid little thing. At first he was described so maturely that I thought he was at least 27 when he was really 17!! His story is sad, he created a myth as a shield to protect himself, he became the monster everyone wanted to fear yet serve. He is so interesting, he has so many shades, it’s hard to describe him. I ended up falling for him almost immediately!

“The easiest way to steal a man’s wallet is to tell him you’re going to steal his watch. You take his attention and direct it where you want it to go.”

INEJ: strong girl with fear inside her blood that makes her dangerous so she is helpful to reach the goal. She is young yet has already so many bad things happened to her. She trusts Kaz, she sees right through him. I like her because she speaks her mind.

“The heart is an arrow. It demands aim to land true.”

NINA: a Grisha with a dangerous power. She is goofy, determined, she has doubts and changes her mind a lot but in the end we know that she just wants the best for the crew and friends. You know right away that she is one of those persons that would sacrifice themselves for the sake of others. Her interactions with Matthias are the best.

“It’s not natural for women to fight.”
“It’s not natural for someone to be as stupid as he is tall, and yet there you stand.”

MATTHIAS: a witchhunter. He knows Nina, he hates her so much. His hate is almost funny. I hate her but I hate more if she is in pain. That kind of feelings can drive a man crazy. He is almost the good giant but with a scary face when things turns bad. I love his reactions to what the crew says and do. He is like a big baby.

“I have been made to protect you. Only in death will I be kept from this oath.”

JESPER: I liked him from the beginning, so funny and ready to put himself in danger for the right amount of money. He is a gambler, a terrible one, he has debts everywhere. The mission is his escape rope. He is also very young even if by the way he talks he seems more mature.

“Take good care of my babies,” Jesper said as he handed them over to Dirix. “If I see a single scratch or nick on those, I’ll spell forgive me on your chest in bullet holes.”

WYLAN: the greatest surprise. How he grew throughout the entire book was incredible, fits right to the story. A little boy with a seemingly privileged background but with a secret. We don’t know about it until the very and when you find out all you want to do is hug his pretty face.

“If only you could talk to girls in equations.”
There was a long silence, and then, eyes trained on the notch they’d created in the link, Wylan said, “Just girls?”

Every single one of them is essential. They bring life to this amazing story. The end is a cliffhanger and it will drive me crazy until the second book is released!!

Do I recommend it? Yes, read it, you’re welcome.
