I missed them. I truly missed them and I didn’t even know it. I found the Wake Up Married books by chance and read them all in a couple of days. My eyes were almost falling out from staring at a display for so long. I liked how flawed the characters were; I loved how easily they doubted themselves. They were two men trying to figure out what did they feel for each other while trying to survive Will’s crazy parents and a pretty nosey coworker.

Finding out, again by mistake, that there was a new Will & Patrick book made me smile so hard out of the blue I think I looked pretty off to someone who didn’t know why I was smiling so hard about. I bought the ebook right away; there was no doubt about that action. Zero regrets from my part. I needed to know how my beloved Patrick was doing; he is the most precious cinnamon roll there is. It hurt so much seeing him sad, and I wanted to see how happy he was with his brand new hubby.

“Sometimes I think you forget that aside from being the most brilliant doctor in the country, I’m also the coolest man on the planet.”
“And the humblest,” Will says.

Two years have passed since Will & Patrick’s second wedding and they are finally going on their honeymoon. Yes, after two whole years. Better late than never, right? Will’s family is still a nightmare and Patrick’s still a brutally honest person. Now it’s time for the both of them to have some real alone time, having virgin cocktails by some paradisiac pool, having lots of steamy sex, and showing the world how much they love each other. But this isn’t a short book about all the sexy fun they have on their honeymoon. Don’t get me wrong, there’s lot of it, enough to keep you warm and cozy on Pluto. There’s more here: family interference, drama, loss, grievance, happiness, self-doubt, lust, dreams, and everything that has made this series worth reading.

This isn’t a conversation fit for public consumption, but so few of his conversations are: either no one wants to hear about brains because of the gore factor or no one wants to hear about sex because of the TMI factor. In Patrick’s opinion, that’s their problem, not his.

Maybe Will and Patrick didn’t spend the most relaxing and stress free honeymoon, but it was a wonderful ten-day vacation nonetheless. Maybe they weren’t always alone, even if they were free from their phones and the outside world, but they still managed to get closer to each other. Maybe Patrick ended up getting sunburnt as the redhead he is, but in Will’s eyes he is and he will be always the most wonderful creature in the whole world. Maybe they aren’t the most conventional couple, with the most conventional family, or the most conventional friends, but they are Will and Patrick and we love them just the way they are. Always.

“Want to play superhero and villain again?”
“No.” Patrick kisses Will’s cheek before whispering in his ear, “Let’s just play Will and Patrick.”

I don’t think there’s going to be another book in this series, but if there is, I want to be the first one to know what’s going to happen in the lives of Will and Patrick in the crazy little gossipy town they live in and love.

Will & Patrick’s Happy Ending by Leta Blake, Alice Griffiths

20160627_143537

“To my husband,” he toasts again, tapping his glass against Will’s. “The best mistake I ever made.”
“I thought you didn’t make mistakes.”
“Exactly.”

Title: Will & Patrick’s Happy Ending
Author: Leta Blake, Alice Griffiths
Why you should read this book: Last book and if you’ve loved it so far then you can’t miss it!

Summary from Goodreads:

Sure, Will and Patrick are in love now, but they weren’t when they got married in Vegas. For Patrick, that’s no problem, but Will can’t shake his doubts that a relationship started through coercion can ever become the real deal.

Since the Molinaro crime family has reversed their position on divorce, Will and Patrick have a chance to rectify their drunken mistake. But is divorce the solution?

How easy it is to take a body apart. And so incredibly difficult to put it back together.

Last frustrating book in this amazing serial. I am so happy I read a Leta Blake book that suggested me this amazing serial. With titles like those I couldn’t help myself; I had to read them! I was surprised by the depth of the themes thinking, at first, that this was going to be a really light read. It wasn’t entirely true. There was abuse, addiction, mental and physical illness: a cocktail of emotions involved that made me love these books even more.

Is the blue I see the same as the blue you see? Who cares if we both agree it’s blue?

The last part of the 5th book left us with Nonna calling Will telling him they could finally get a divorce. I knew Will didn’t want it, and I was even surer Patrick didn’t want it either. They are in love but they haven’t confessed it yet. Will then, is one doubtful human being and he decided to ask for advice to one of the characters I came to hate: Owen, his AA advisor and coworker. Owen doesn’t know a thing about Patrick and Will and he thought he had the right to put in Will’s head all kinds of doubts that made him make a terrible decision! He asked Patrick for a month long break to see if the love he felt was real and not another addiction. Owen, I wanted to punch him so much!! You made the both of them suffer! And I hated Will a little bit because he could’ve asked for different opinions because Owen is not God and his word is not absolute!

Patrick flails around, trying to get comfortable in her arms, but Jenny lacks in chest hair and her boobs keep getting in the way.

Oh my goodness, Will, you made the poor Patrick suffer so much I hated you, and I didn’t want to hate him because Will has been through a lot and it’s not entirely his fault he is surrounded by people who don’t know him as much as he thinks they do. My little Patrick, he was a mess, I wanted to cry and hug him and tell him everything was going to be okay. I wanted to tell him: Patrick, the book has the words Happy Ending in the title, trust me, everything is going to be just fine, give it time.

“Some people meet their life partner in college, others at church, others in a psych ward, others at a funeral. You don’t ask questions, William. You just be grateful you found the one.”

Will and Patrick aren’t together and they are miserable. Owen was wrong and I hated him so much for it! At least his unwanted advice made Will talk to someone who knew more about love and didn’t think everything has to be connected to his addiction. Oh, you love doughnuts? Maybe it’s an addiction because you are an addict. Oh, you love your Nonna? Maybe it’s an addiction, you know, because you are an addict!! Come on, Owen, give up, go home!

“This has definitely crossed over into gay ‘girl talk,’ Jax. You might want to switch the topic to sports so you can reassert your heterosexuality. Or go prove it with Jenny.”

The Wake Up married serial are one hell of a journey through feelings. Patrick, or as Jenny calls him His Highness the Jerkface, doesn’t think he can love because he closed that possibility a long time ago when the last time he loved someone that person made his life a living hell. Will thought he loved Ryan and wanted to built a life with him. He was delusional and he didn’t see their relationship for what it truly was: unhealthy and fake! That wasn’t love, that was pure abuse.

As the title suggests, there is a Happy Ending and is a perfect one. I loved everything about these books. I will miss Patrick with all my heart. I think we could’ve been the best of friends; we could be socially awkward together and eat like there’s no tomorrow. I will also miss Will, his kinks and his growth, his chest hair and good heart. I think I find chest hair attractive now, all thanks to Patrick and his endless praises of Will’s beautiful blond chest hair.

He misses Patrick’s noises of gastronomically induced joy.

I don’t know what else to say, I didn’t really spoil the book because the title says what happens, it’s not my fault. There are so many shades of the story I’m not telling you, so many ways these books capture your heart. I was in pain, my heart was in pieces, then I laughed so much, I got hungry and a little bit horny, I wanted to cuddle a horse, eat a mac n joe and be part of Will and Patrick’s crazy new lovely life!

Do I recommend it? Of course, perfect ending for a perfect love story.

Will & Patrick Meet the Mob by Leta Blake, Alice Griffiths

20160627_143511

“You think Tony’s back because of my mother?”
“Historically, her milkshake has brought him to the yard.”

Title: Will & Patrick Meet the Mob
Author: Leta Blake, Alice Griffiths
Why you should read this book: Fifth book and the truth is out, love is in the air!

Summary from Goodreads:

Patrick has finally accepted that he’s in love with Will, but his newfound determination to do something about that runs up against his father-in-law’s mobster plans. Though just what those plans are have as yet to be determined. As far as Will and Patrick can tell, they consist of blowing through town, wreaking small havoc, and turning the Patterson family’s lives on end.

Will must face the truth about his family before he can fully come to terms with his feelings for Patrick. And Patrick has to decide if this whackadoodle world is something he truly wants to be part of forever.

This is what love looks like, Patrick. You end up with no doughnuts and so-called “toy” pistols pointed at your head.

We left the 4th book with a cliffhanger nobody believed because of course it couldn’t happen but still it was surprising and intriguing. Tony is back and he wants to be sure Will and Patrick are in love. Jokes on him because they are obliviously in love with each other and the only people that don’t know it are just the two of them. That’s frustrating!

Patrick has accepted his overflowing feelings for our Will and he is suffering like he hasn’t suffered before. Love is hard and if you think it’s one sided it’s harder. Patrick doesn’t want a divorce anymore because being with Will those months has been the best experience in his entire life. He didn’t know he was capable of these deep feelings; he wasn’t ready to need someone so much it hurts. Patrick, my dear all-you-can-eat muffin, not one person is ever ready to being deeply in love, it just happens and you can’t reset your heart.

It’s an expression that makes Patrick’s heart do all the acrobatics it’s started performing since he met Will in Vegas: the wacky flip-flop, the dive and soar, and the wild burst in his chest. Maybe this isn’t love. Maybe he just needs to see a cardiologist.

Will, on his part, is in denial because he is also sure his love in not reciprocated. He knows he is feeling something very different for Patrick, caring about him more than usual, thinking about him all the time, being impatient to meet him after work to talk and do dirty stuff because with Patrick he is more himself than he’s ever been, than he’s ever allowed himself to be without being afraid of being judged. Ryan ruined him so much and I can tell the whole city is secretly in a Ryan anti-fanclub! Come on, that guy is the worst!

He squeezes Will’s hand again, and his heart aches when Will’s lips tilt up in a smile just for him.

Patrick is seriously a fantastic character, flaws and everything. He has curly auburn hair (my favorite), he is a bottomless pit when it comes to food, it’s such a joy reading about him eating or thinking about food (he has a second trashy breakfast everyday, who wouldn’t love him?), he is an amazing doctor and he is passionate about what he cares about. I love Patrick and wanted to see him happy from the very first book, he deserved all that’s good in the world and for him it’s food and Will. Patrick, 35 years old and in love for the first time in his life! Such a cutie!

“Wait, why’ve you kidnapped me?”
“Because I’m an evil doctor with mind-control powers and I’m going to steal your super high-level spy secrets by breaking down your mental barriers through forcing you to orgasm against your will.”

The sex, oh my goodness, so descriptive, I loved every scene! It was cheesy, extreme, kinky, dirty, and it was great! Those two could be at it for hours, like rabbits! Lucky them! Really, lucky them! Everything about their intimate encounters is hot and steamy and I’m glad Will finally found someone who enjoys doing all kinds of stuff without judging. Can you believe it that Ryan blamed Will for wanting to try stuff in bed? He called him ugly words, disgusting among other things, because he wanted to enjoy their sex life? Unbelievable, my hate for Ryan knows no boundaries!

“What? Of course I’ve had friends. I have colleagues, and in college there was a girl I didn’t hate.”

I love how Jenny is Patrick’s new best friend in this new frozen hell of a town. He is not used to having friends and he can’t talk about Will stuff with Will, he needed a confidante! He found it in Jenny and her scream machine of a baby, Dylan. Patrick cares about her a lot and they share food together. Patrick sharing his food? This is real love! I can’t stop saying how much I love Patrick and his interactions with everyone in town; he surely brought some spice to that cold gossipy city! He is also an active member of the town’s gossip app in which it’s written every dirty secret about its inhabitants.

Patrick is going to create a phone app called “You’re amazing because Patrick likes you” and install it on Will and Jenny’s phones. It’ll send them regular alerts that read: Stop being stupid. You’re awesome. The amazing, world-renowned genius, Patrick McCloud, likes you. For the love of macaroni, that’s an endorsement almost no one gets. Be proud.

What happened at the end of the book was expected but I didn’t want to expect it so soon even if it’s not so soon since it’s the 5th book of 6. I don’t want this to end but I need to know my men are good and happy and I think sad and frustrating things are going to happen because it’s the last book but I want to confide in the fact that there is Happy Ending written in the title and trust in its truthiness. Don’t disappoint me!

“Well? What’s the number?”
“Ninety-eight. Calm your tits.”
Patrick comes out, arms crossed over his chest and his hair sticking up everywhere. “Calm my tits? Calm your tits.”

I love Patrick!!

Do I recommend it? Of course, it getting complicated and angsty, the best.

Will & Patrick Fight Their Feelings by Leta Blake, Alice Griffiths

20160627_143436

“Patrick, are you telling me you didn’t know how old your husband was until just this second?”
Patrick shrugs. “He looked legal. They let me marry him. That’s all that matters.”
“Oh my God, you’re ridiculous.”

Title: Will & Patrick Do the Holidays
Author: Leta Blake, Alice Griffiths
Why you should read this book: Fourth book and now things get kinky!

Summary from Goodreads:

Will and Patrick have embraced adding hot sexy-times to their fake marriage, but as their emotions deepen, they confront whether or not they want to be more than friends-with-benefits. Freshly free of a restrictive relationship, Will’s not ready for more than exploratory fun. And no matter how Patrick feels about Will, his own difficult past has left him wary of love.

The heat is high (and occasionally kinky) in this episode of the Wake Up Married serial, but Will and Patrick struggle to accept their mutual affection, much less confess it. How long will they fight their feelings?

Because Will’s not going to let Patrick go any time soon, and, no matter how Patrick might fight it, not ever.

Sexy times all night, sexy times in the morning, that’s how I like my boys. That until they start fighting their feelings and lying to each other! That awful guy posing as a human being, Ryan, is finally out of town, and I hope he’s never coming back. Will and Patrick are closer to each other, sharing secrets, past traumas, and present difficulties. Of course there was going to be something else between those two and the happiness they deserve!

“The bed. The bed again. Against the wall, and then the bed. And both of us always come.”
“Bastards.”

Difficult in the shape of feelings. Ohhhhhh scary feelings of, guess what? Love, scary feelings of love. Patrick seems to be the first to fall and he doesn’t want to have anything to do with love and emotions in general. He wants to focus on his job at the hospital saving lives, and he wants to have fun in bed with his fake husband until the divorce can happen. But it is really the truth? Does he really want to get out of Will’s life and move on? Can he do that? Isn’t he too involved right now?

Damn him for being a genius. He’s too smart to believe his own lies.

Patrick thinks Will doesn’t want a relationship since, now free from Ryan, he can experiment and be with whoever he wants. Will believes Patrick wants the divorce and stay friends, nothing more than that. Oh boy, are they both completely wrong! They have to be true to each other and say out loud they love each other. Patrick loves Will, he knows it and it scares the hell out of him. Will loves Patrick but he doesn’t want to admit it. Come on, guys, you are killing me here! Say those words out loud, it won’t hurt and it won’t ruin what you have, it will improve it, I’m sure of that!

“I love him. He makes me want to vomit. But in a good way.”

The ending, what the hell!!! I hope that weird situation will get them to be honest with each other. At least some good can come from something so twisted!

Do I recommend it? Of course, it gets kinky and feelings are getting involved.

Will & Patrick Do the Holidays by Leta Blake, Alice Griffiths

20160627_143048

How does he have the misfortune to be so deeply involved with a man who has more crazy in his life than a spinster has cats?

Title: Will & Patrick Do the Holidays
Author: Leta Blake, Alice Griffiths
Why you should read this book: Third book and now things are seriously getting steamy!

Summary from Goodreads:

A couple’s first holiday season is always a special time. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve are magical when you’re in love. Too bad Will and Patrick’s marriage is a sham and they’re only faking their affection for each other. Or are they?

Sparks fly in this episode of the Wake Up Married serial. Will the sexual tension between Will and Patrick finally explode in a needy night of passion? Or will they continue to deny their feelings?

The consequences can wait.

After meeting some members of Will’s crazy family it’s holidays time! First there’s thanksgiving at Will’s grandmother, Nonna, the one trying her best to find a way out of their marriage without losing money. Now all the members living in Healing know about Patrick and there are the ones who likes him okay and the ones hating him without thinking twice. The ones hating him are the Ryan supporters, so they are the worst, just like Ryan. I still can’t stand Will having thoughts about drinking because of something Ryan says or does. Luckily he has Patrick and he hates Ryan as much as I do so I know he will try his best to make him forget about that dude’s ugly face and personality.

“It’s the preservative. Meta-cresol,” Patrick says. “Mmm, so clinical. So sexy.”
“And you’re so weird.”
“Nothing like the smell of a hospital to get my motor running.”

Will and Patrick are starting to be more loving to each other. They take each other’s hands, kisses on the cheek are given and also on the lips. They attraction is not only physical right now and people are starting to realize how much they care about each other. Unfortunately there is still the Ryan situation going on and it’s ruining everything.

Ryan, the greatest buttdude of all, is in a relationship with someone so he doesn’t have the right to ruin what Will has with Patrick. What he says during Christmas hurt me so much, it was painful for me, I can’t begin to imagine how painful it was for Will. Patrick overheard everything, thank goodness, and reminded Will how great he is and that he has to stop listening to that awful human being because everything he says is poop!

“I’m only going to say this one more time. You’re a good person. You don’t deserve to be made to feel like you aren’t. You’re the last person in the world who should ever feel like that. And I’m absolutely sick of it, even if you’re not.”

New Year’s Eve! Things fly: sparks, love, and punches! I don’t like Will’s mom, she seriously thinks only Ryan cares about Will and that if he is patient and waits until Ryan breaks up with his new boyfriend, Will can have a second chance with him. Can you believe it? What a mother! She sees only what she wants to see and what she sees is wrong!

Things got steamy! I wonder what it’s going to happen to my two new favorite guys now that they unleashed their beasts! That was hot!

Do I recommend it? Yes of course, now it gets hot.

Will & Patrick Meet the Family by Leta Blake, Alice Griffiths

20160627_143020

“I’d never deny I’m a good man. I’m a stupendous man. Have you met me?”

Title: Will & Patrick Meet the Family
Author: Leta Blake, Alice Griffiths
Why you should read this book: Second book of this serial and things are getting really interesting!

Summary from Goodreads:

Meeting the family is challenging for every new couple. But for Will and Patrick, the awkward family moments only grow more hilarious—and painful—when they must hide the truth of their predicament from the people they care about most.

Throw in the sexual tension flaring between them, uncomfortable run ins with Will’s all-too-recent ex-boyfriend, an overprotective mobster father, and a mafia spy tailing them around Healing, South Dakota, and you’ve got a recipe for madcap laughs and surprisingly heartwarming feels.

Patrick sighs. He’d hoped for meet-the-son-in-law hors d’oeuvres at the very least.

We left Will answering a call from him mom letting him know that RYAN (I can’t begin to express my hate for that guy) told her he got married in Vegas. Why does he think any of this is his business after treating Will like trash?? And of course Will still loves him, and of course he feels Ryan is right about everything he says about him. I can’t stand how Ryan messes with Will’s head; he deserves a hard punishment, some kind of bad juju for all he’s done.

Patrick is still the best character. A hard cocoon with a frail heart. He still doesn’t love Will that way (but it’ll happen, they won’t be able to stop it from happening) but he is starting to care more about him. He is starting to hate the way Ryan makes Will feel and the way his family doesn’t trust him with his choices.

“Now build a bridge and get over yourself. You know what you should do.”

His family seems to believe Will is incapable of dealing with his life without the loving care of Ryan. They don’t know a thing, they think Ryan is a Saint and without him Will is a living mess. They don’t know how bad he makes Will feel with his comments and new boyfriend. I hate Ryan, he is seriously the worst!

It’s always the shiny ones that bring a man down in the end.

New characters get to know Patrick and hate him at first sight without actually getting to know him better. Some characters do love Patrick like Jenny and his baby Dylan; they are becoming Patrick’s best friends! Patrick is incredible and I know it takes some time but in the end you can’t do anything but love him with all his flaws. Will knows it but now he needs to remove Ryan from the equation and focus only on Patrick and on the tension building up between the two of them.

“No, he’s not charming. He’s an asshole. Except when he’s not.”
“Oh, so exactly your type of man.”

They are horny like teenagers and they haven’t done anything after that amazing night in Vegas after their wedding. They can’t deny the attraction; it’s pretty obvious to everyone around them, even to the ones doubting Patrick’s intentions! Please let there be a happily ever after because I need to know they are going to be together forever, without a divorce!

“Gay and taken.”
“They always are.”

Do I recommend it? Yes, there is tension and it is beautiful.

Will & Patrick Wake Up Married by Leta Blake, Alice Griffiths

20160627_142927

“A strict Catholic who runs a crime family. So, the best kind.”

Title: Will & Patrick Wake Up Married
Author: Leta Blake, Alice Griffiths
Why you should read this book: Because it’s the amazing beginning of a 6 books serials I’m sure everyone will love!

Summary from Goodreads:

After a drunken night of hot sex in Vegas, strangers Will Patterson and Dr. Patrick McCloud wake up married. A quickie divorce is the most obvious way out—unless you’re the heir of a staunchly Catholic mafia boss with a draconian position on the sanctity of marriage.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place, Will and Patrick don’t like it, or each other, but they have to make the best of it until they can find another way out of their marriage. To ensure the trust fund Will’s charitable foundation relies on isn’t revoked by his mobster grandfather, he and Patrick travel to Will’s hometown of Healing, South Dakota, posing as a newlywed couple in the throes of true love at first sight.

Complicating their scheme are Will’s unresolved feelings for his all-too-recent ex-boyfriend Ryan, and Patrick’s desire to get back to the only thing that really matters to him in life: neurosurgery. Will they fool everyone? Or will the mafia get wind that their marriage is a fake? Throw their simmering attraction into the mix and all bets are off!

“Oh, honey, the way you limped in here, I’m guessing you two had sexual relations all over the place.”

What a funny little book. It was unexpected and it was really interesting. The book is really short so the only things that happened are explained in the title: Will and Patrick wake up in Vegas after a hot night of intense sex and they find out they got married. I wonder how many times that happens in Vegas. Chapels should do a little test before celebrating marriages, it’d be easier not to make mistakes that you will regret for the rest of your life.

Getting a divorce or an annulment is what they must do but, guess what? Here comes the random part of the book: Will is the son of a mafia dude and can’t get a divorce or he will lose all the money, millions, he uses to help the world. As Patrick repeats constantly: this isn’t The Godfather Part 3, stop with all the mafia paranoia stuff. Apparently it is more serious and dangerous than Patrick thought at first but he doesn’t want to help, he wants to get back to his life as a neurosurgeon in Atlanta. He doesn’t have time for all this drama.

“Does the almighty Dr. McCloud suffer from human weaknesses?”

I have to say that I don’t like Ryan, Will’s ex very much. No, I correct myself; I don’t like him at all. He broke up with him over the phone, knowing Will is fragile and can relapse any minute. He promptly went to bed with another guy and apparently he can be all lovey dovey with this other guy, more than he ever was with Will. Ryan is the worst and I hope Will can’t forget about him asap because this is seriously annoying.

Why does love hurt so much? Why does it never lay soft and easy against his skin like a comfortable sweater? It’s unfair that love is so hard.

I like Patrick, a lot. I am sure that as I get to know him better I will love him, that’s for sure. He is funny and, even he doesn’t want to show it, he feels all over the place. This whole situation created a big mess but he is willing to help Will get out of it with as little damage as possible. He cares about Will, for now not in that kind of way, but he will get to that soon enough. After knowing Will’s diabetes condition he makes sure Will eats and test himself regularly. He is a sweetie with a dirty mouth when he is hungry and, oh goodness, he is always hungry. Patrick eats like it’s his last day on Earth; he eats all the time and a lot! The fight over the jelly doughnut? That was pure gold!

Today? Today he’s going to order a Bronco Buster of the Dark Roast because if his heart explodes from caffeine overload at least he’ll be out of his misery.

I guess we’ll see what’s going to happen now that they both have to go meet the family!

Do I recommend it? Yes, it is funny and it’s going to get steamy, I know it.

Rise: A Gay Fairy Tale by Leta Blake, Keira Andrews

20160620_174420

Title: Rise: A Gay Fairy Tale
Author: Leta Blake, Keira Andrews
Why you should read this book: Because it’s a fairy tale and it is a nice one!

Summary from Goodreads:

What happens when Jack meets a sexy man atop that beanstalk?

Rumors of treasure have long sent fortune hunters clambering up a magic beanstalk to a mysterious castle in the clouds. Survivors told of an evil giant who guards the gold and glittering jewels with savage strength. No sane man would dare risk the climb—but Jack has nothing left to lose. Shunned for his evil red hair and abandoned by his cruel lover, he’s desperate to escape his life.

Rion isn’t a giant, only a man bearing the burden of protecting his family’s legacy. It’s a lonely existence, but he’s duty bound. Then Jack appears, and Rion’s world is turned upside down. After a blazing confrontation, undeniable lust sparks. Isolated in the clouds, Jack and Rion give in to their desire and growing connection. But do they have the courage to let go of the past and follow their dreams?

Soon they must protect the treasure—and each other—from a new threat. And they have everything to lose.

This certainly had more backstory than the first fairy tale in this series. I found myself frustrated and angry and deeply sad because the world is a mess, there’s no denying it; it truly is a big mess. Sure, this is a fantasy story, set in a past that doesn’t exist, yet the dynamics, the bullies and the ignorance is so very present in our world nowadays and it makes me furious.

Jack has ginger hair. He was born this way. There is absolutely nothing wrong with him; he only has very bright red-orange hair. Maybe I can understand why his father left, he obviously felt his wife cheated on him but that’s no excuse. Demonizing his hair, treating the poor guy like trash because of his appearance, because of something he could not do anything about, was very hard to digest. I wanted to punish the entire village, his mother, and his sister. Can you believe it? All the abuse he had to face since he was born?

Luckily this is a fairy tale so I was full of hope and revenge! There was the famous legend of the giant, and his treasure, living in a castle in the sky, just above the clouds that you could reach from a stalk that grew yearly. Jack is desperate, he wants to have money to leave the village forever so he climbs and reaches the castle. But there’s no giant and the treasure is nowhere to be found.

Rion is the “giant”. He is the lonely soul living in the castle protecting the treasure after his parents’ death. He grew up hearing stories about the Outsiders, the unclean demons living in the village below the clouds so when Jack climbs and they find themselves face to face it’s HATE AT FIRST SIGHT!

This is a nice fairy tale with a great epilogue. It is short which is good and it has a lot of elements playing in its favor. The love is not instant, the trust must be won and secrets must be revealed, one by one. There are slow steps to take in order to find that they must be meant for each other. First of all, Rion thinks Jack’s hair is beautiful; second, he too shares the same interest in men rather than women. Third, he fell in love; they both fell hard for each other.

Yeah, of course there are set backs, enemies, things that weren’t supposed to happen that made me so mad. But, I repeat, this is a fairy tale and I demanded a happy ending and I got one that satisfied me. Plus a lot of steamy stuff in-between and everyone knows how much I love those!

Do I recommend it? Yes, it is HOT.

Levity: A Gay Fairy Tale by Leta Blake, Keira Andrews

20160619_111628

“It’s quite delightful, except that it’s terrifying. Which is, of course, how so many of the best things are.”

Title: Levity: A Gay Fairy Tale
Author: Leta Blake, Keira Andrews
Why you should read this book: Because it’s a fairy tale with a steamy gay twist. What is there not to love?

Summary from Goodreads:

Cursed as an infant with a lack of physical and emotional gravity, Prince Efrosin can’t keep his feet on the ground or his head out of the clouds. Laughing his way through life, he’s never been weighed down by love and lust.

Then one fateful day, his tenuous tie to the earth is severed and he blows away on the wind. He’s rescued by Dmitri, a handsome young woodsman who suffers from a mysterious curse of his own, and the two strangers are irresistibly drawn together. Experiencing sex and love for the first time, they dive into a delightfully sensual and passionate affair.

But the evil witch who cursed them is planning her ultimate revenge. Efrosin and Dmitri must fight to find their fairy tale ending and live happily ever after.

“This gravity everyone loves so well is rather useless.”

This was cute, funny and steamy. Lately my e-books have been very naughty and I love that, very much! This fairy tale was all kinds of absurd but, well, it’s a tale, right? First of all it has a happily ever after ending which I love. Then it has two wonderful main characters, one a prince and the other a woodcutter. It has all the elements to a wonderful tale of new meetings, love and….SEX, lots and lots of incredible sex.

An evil witch has cursed Prince Efrosin on the day of his christening. He has no weight and he doesn’t suffer from gravity. This curse also affects his personality: he is shallow and doesn’t really feel anything but joy even if the things being told to him aren’t happy at all. On the day of his 18th birthday he convinced Geoffrey to take him, kite-style, to take a look around. It is extremely dangerous since the wind can take him easily away to certain death.

“Well, I am very happy to be alive. It would be awfully dreary to be dead.”

Guess what? It happens and our weightless Prince flies away but, luckily, he doesn’t die but end up stuck on a tree only to be found by our woodcutter, Dmitri who at first thought he was seeing an angel falling from the sky. Their meeting is meant to be, fate wants it and I wanted it. At first it was purely physical. Dmitri has been by himself due to his curse that binds him to his land, and Efrosin hasn’t been with anyone ever because nobody has a “weight” on him. Not until Dmitri comes in a rocks his world. Oh my goodness, did they have fun in that cabin in the woods! It was hot beyond measure, one hot scene after the other.

“As your prince, I command you, take me into your home and defile me.”

Being with Dmitri feels different; Efrosin feels things when he is with him, he also feels gravity. This is a thing it hadn’t happened before, not ever, for anyone and Efrosin doesn’t want this to end.

Besides, what on earth could be more romantic than being taken in a hard and desperate manner by my rescuing prince?

I know I didn’t want it to end. This book or I should say short story was lovely. I liked it a lot and it left me wanting for more. The epilogue was excellent, hilarious and absurd, like everything else. Can’t wait to read the other fairy tales in this series.

Observing the sky turning the color of the knight’s bruises after a tournament.
Isn’t this the most beautiful way to describe the sunset?

Do I recommend it? Yes, it is HOT.
